    "Bullseye" Canteen U.S. model 1858 canteen, bullseye pattern of concentric reinforcing rings stamped into both faces. Good condition. It has a pewter spout. The bullseye canteen is also referred to as the corrugated tin canteen. The rings were added in an attempt to strenghten the sides. The Philadelphia depot started issuing bulls eye canteens in 1862.

    Two glass bottles (brown to delay light deterioration) from about 1890 were used to administer an inhalation anesthetic via a mask. The stopper of the larger bottle turned to allow chloroform to drip onto a cloth mask. The small round flask with the metal top was used for ether, which dripped out after removal of the small cap from the top.
